Bird Rescue

On Friday, July 3rd, it was very windy. With all of this heat, the extra wind was a blessing. However, it knocked a nest and two little birds from one of our large trees in the backyard. The morning doves weren't hurt in the fall and we got to them before the cats could taste them.

Brent brought them inside along with their fallen nest to take care of them. He even went to the store and purchased baby bird food so they would be properly nurished. Brent is so good with animals. All of the animals at our house love him the best.

The two baby birds had feathers growing in and were very healthy. They were just too young to be on their own.

Brent kept the birds in his office overnight so the cats wouldn't get to them. In the morning, Stan brought Brent a present. The present was another morning dove. However, this was an adult bird. He/She was in great shape. Stan hadn't damaged him/her. We speculated if he/she was the parent of our little baby birds. Brent put him/her in his office until he/she felt better.

After a few hours, the grown up bird started to fly around the office. So Brent set it free. Brent also found a bird rescue place nearby and was able to take the baby birds there so they could get all of the care they needed. When Brent dropped off the birds at the rescue center, they told him that he had two baby boy birds. I guess with morning doves the color of the feathers on the wings is the give away of the sex of the bird. We're all glad the birds were healthy and will be able to be on their own soon.

Brent is now the Godfather for my children, if I die, I know he'd take great care of them. What a nurturer!
